The Franciscan Quartet and the Climb

(Franciscan Quartet and local DJ, Papa Dudut)

who are they? well, they are a group of four young boys who sings well and always get to be invited to perform in malls, schools and several events elsewhere. one of them is my eldest son, ADJ1. he's eleven and now in 5th grade. the group started in December last year but they were able to make the people "wow!" everytime they'd perform. and most people would say they are like the little version of Il Divo.

last saturday (Aug. 29), they were invited to sing in a mall nearby. they will be the front act of this famous singer/celebrity but unfortunately, the said singer/celeb can't show up because well, they said he's sick.

anyway, the show must go on, so they went on and sang for the people who are now disappointed . kinda scary, huh? so, me and the other members' moms stayed in the front row, all smiling and proud and trying hard to make the boys comfortable. we don't want them to be distracted by the crowd's reaction due to dismay for not seeing their "idol" that day. if i was them i would be really, really disappointed! come to think of it... they went there and fought hard to secure a nice seat (you will be required to buy his album to be able to enter the fence built by the mall management) and watch the show and then later on, get his autograph and photo op with him. thank heavens for most of the audience stayed and watched the boys sing.

they sang "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. i was really amazed on their own rendition of the song. you see, i'm not a huge "Miley Cyrus Fan" (not even a bit), her songs are ok to me but it wasn't soo good until i heard the boys' version. (you can add the fact that i am a proud mom of one of them ) i took their vid because i thought that i'd be sharing it here. and i want the whole world to see how proud i am, not just of my ADJ1 but all of them!

hope you enjoy watching/listening !

btw, my son's the third little guy from your left...

Our Reviews
"Wow, what a great blog. Truth be told, it's a bit girly for me but that's hardly a problem, is it? The only possible recommendation I could make would be a head shot for your profile. I mean, I know you have a personal photo but I think it's nicer to see what the author looks like. With a blog like this, there's nothing to be ashamed of :)"

to post or not to post?

blogging is not as easy as i thought it was. especially when you get a lot of visitors or if you're lucky, followers. it is as if you have to meet people's expectations, make your post interesting and catchy and give out honest opinions.

when i started this whole thing, i only thought about one single topic that could make a woman's heart melt... fashion and shopping. but after nosing around other peeps' blogs....... aaaaaaaaaw! i knew i'll never make it like they do! i mean, i've seen extravagance and glamour in their posts. they've showcased their fancy and expensive possessions making you feel **sluuurrrrp!** (drool)...

and me? what can i offer? cheap finds? thrift shopping tips? NOTHING! eeeer.... am i being so loud? LOL...

i know it's not a bad idea to post or blog about "ways-to-save-money-shopping-tips" but come on! get real. most of us yearn for nice things. the reason why we don't spend too much is (maybe) we don't have soo much to spend. and that is exactly my reason why i don't spend too much for a pair of shoes that has red soles or a bag that has a signature or a dress that can be custom made for me or even perfume that can be named after me. MOOHLA is always my problem. HA-HA! (it's as if i'm the only one...) and even if i do have enough, i can't ever spend that much of dough on something. why? I'M A MOTHER! i'm made to save and appreciate small things. and it's just fine with me. really! i shop only when i have extra and most of the time, i shop for things that my children needs. almost nothing for me or for D. their needs are our priority. and i don't mind if i can't have what i want. i can stay yearning like hell forever. so what?

so i decided not to blog about the things i don't have or never had or will never have. it's going to be useless if i don't own at least one designer piece that i can blog about. i would look ridiculous and trying hard to fit in if i'll do that and that is the most dreadful thing to me. (how can i give good reviews about a product if i don't really own one?) so i hope we're on the same page when it comes to that...

maybe someday, i'd be able to get myself these things... for now, i'm happy with what i do and what i have and whatever things that could be non-sense or unsuitable for somebody else's taste. i guess, the whole point in blogging is writing down what you feel like writing. no bragging. blogging is therapeutic. if only i was able to blog 10 years ago, Lord knows i would. it could've save me from PPD and panic and anxiety attacks. but that's another story .

xoxo,

Mango Craze

last Friday, i received a newsletter from Mango.com. it's about their new collection of accessories, latest trend, the sweet MNG line and what's going to be in store next week. so i clicked... and then browsed... and because sometimes i tend to be so impatient, i skipped most of their site ads or slideshows... click. click. click. *sigh!* i wonder why their site is slow... how can it attract buyers or followers when everything takes time to load? time is gold! so i just clicked on and browsed and waited and freeze until i got kinda fed up and landed on their mangoshop.com (finally! things are moving!!! ^_^) i checked out their women's collection and here's what caught my eyes...

(this one reminds of a Balmain Jacket. but it's actually a cardi... cute!)

(this dress is really cute! simply girly!)

(i soo like this pair! but i'm sure i can't pull it off!)
(all photos are from mangoshop.com)

gaaaah! this is soo not fair! they're selling it cheap online! but if you'll visit their stores here, it's either these are not available or they are costly. i feel soo left out... bleh!

yarns and hooks in my jungle

my jungle is my closet. it's my dearest sister who named it "jungle" because whenever she's going to borrow something from me, i would always tell her to look for it in my closet (i'm too lazy to get up, ok?)... and she'd always come back to me and complain about it. all things scattered and disorganized. truly a mess! that's why she called it "jungle".

anyway, i don't want to talk about it yet... there are a lot of posts about "what's in your bag?" or "what's in your closet?" and it kinda wears me out seeing the same topic everyday.

since i'm soo into crocheting, i'm here to talk about my yarns... you can see below that my yarns are the common yarns you see in the store. the same yarn used for sewing the sides of the spiral notebooks of every high school students. yeah! it's common here. my hooks are mostly made of aluminum. sizes range from 1.50mm to 0.95mm and the others are size 3/0 to 6/0...

(i store all of them in my daughter's old pencil case)

(this is my improvised stitch marker. it's annoying whenever i lost count in crocheting but it is more annoying when you can't find stitch markers in stores. i wonder why they don't sell these here... ugh!)

well, my treasures are not much compared to yarns owned by other crocheters. but to me they are my precious! i don't even allow my kids to touch and squeeze them. except when they want to do some finger knitting.
(this is my carry-along case filled with yarns and other essentials. i take this bundle with me whenever and wherever i want to crochet)

(some variegated yarns by Red Heart and white acrylic yarns from Monaco, my pattern keeper, tissue holder used as a yarn holder)

(my pattern keeper. they are just clearbook full of printed copies of patterns that i was able to grab online. thanks to Ravelry!)

i do have a drawer where i keep my extras... so i guess i'm not that disorganized at all... ^___^
(this is where i keep all my sewing notions and all other stuff. that's my Oscar Dela Renta train case on top... i guess you know what's a train case for... XD)

just beneath my underwear box, is my approximately 3 feet tall drawer.

what's inside? take a look!
on the first layer... ta-daah! Yarns and Crochet Cotton yarns!

on the second... more yarns and some unfinished projects.

on the third... laces and ribbons and tulle, all in black! i love Gothic themed accessories! i also love making beaded jewelries. see? i really love crafts!

and lastly... somewhat free space for more ribbons, laces yarns or any other stuff. but for the meantime, i let my mold and deckle rest here. they are my Handmade Paper Making Kit that i've been keeping for so long. i bought them years ago in Papemelroti Store in SM Southmall. i was able to use them once. after that, i was so engaged with jewelry designing and forgot about the whole thing. to know more about paper making, visit their page right here: Handmade Paper Making

i know you would ask about that little box in the photo. it is a mini handheld sewing machine. it looks like a stapler.. haha... **wink** but it works especially on hemlines. really cool!

------------------------

confession: i never splurged in bags, shoes and clothes, the way i splurged in to these yarns and other craft materials! ^_^
